Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese alternative therapy with a focus on energy healing. The word “Reiki” is derived from the Japanese words “rei” which means “universal” and “ki” which means “life force energy”. It is believed that the therapy helps restore balance to the body’s energy fields, promoting physical, mental and emotional healing.

Reiki is typically administered through a practitioner’s hands, which are placed on or near the patient’s body. The practitioner will channel the universal life force energy to the patient, promoting a sense of relaxation and calmness.

Reiki has become increasingly popular in recent years, with many people seeking alternative and holistic therapies to complement traditional medical treatments. While the effectiveness of Reiki remains controversial in the medical community, many people claim to have experienced positive results, including reduced stress and anxiety, pain relief and improved emotional well-being.

Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that is focused on promoting healing and balancing the body’s energy fields. It is believed to have many benefits for both physical and emotional health, making it a popular option for those seeking alternative forms of healing and relaxation.

What to expect

During a Reiki session, the recipient will lie down or sit comfortably while the practitioner places their hands on or above the body in different positions. It is common for soft, calming music to be played and for the room to be dimly lit to create a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

During the session, the recipient may feel sensations such as warmth, tingling, or pressure as the practitioner moves their hands around the body. It is not uncommon for individuals to enter a meditative state or experience deep relaxation during a Reiki session.

The practitioner will work to identify blockages or areas in the body where energy may be stagnant and direct healing energy to these areas. Reiki is a non-invasive and gentle technique that does not involve physical manipulation or pressure.

As Reiki works on a holistic level, it can be helpful for a wide range of physical and mental conditions. It is not a substitute for medical treatment but can be used in conjunction with traditional medicine to support overall well-being.

After a Reiki session, it is important to drink plenty of water and take time to rest and reflect. It is common to feel a sense of peace and tranquility after a session, and this feeling may last for several days.
