Adults therapy

How can Mind school help you?

For individuals, I can help you learn more about looking after your own wellbeing and setting goals that suit. I can help you see clearly where you are right now, create a vision for where you want to go and make a plan to get you to your destination. You will gain new perspectives and gain skills in personal resilience and have a greater awareness into your own mental wellbeing.

Is it like counselling?

In short no it is nothing like counselling. Both counselling and CBT help individuals to gain a conscious understanding of the problem initially by talking through the detail with a practitioner – whereas NLP approach, which I use doesn’t always require the individual to share at length or work on problems openly in order for it to be successful, which many individuals prefer.

Why do you use a mixture of different therapies?

I use a variety of techniques based on the best available research and consider someone’s unique values, characteristics, goals, and circumstances.

Where does the therapy take place?

The therapy can take place at my home, over the internet or at your home. Whichever is the most suited to yourself.

How many sessions are advised?

My aim is to get you to where you want to be as quickly as possible. Everyone is different and responds differently to different therapies. Normally between 1-4 sessions is advised but some people may only require one session. This is heavily dependent on what we are working on.

Are you insured and do you have a DBS?

Yes – I am covered by Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance. I have also hold an up to date DBS check, which can be seen on request.

Children’s therapy

Will my child’s anxiety not go away as they get older?

Many childhood fears are normal developmental phenomenon. Fears tend to rise and dissipate at predictable ages in a child’s life. However, no matter how old your child is, if he or she is experiencing a fear that is beginning to interfere with aspects of his or her functioning, such as academic functioning, social functioning, or family functioning, then these fears may warrant treatment. Successful short-term therapy can help to alleviate your child’s fears and help your child return to healthy functioning.

How long will it take before I see a change?

This will depend on your particular problems. Typically, 1-5 sessions for treatment for most difficulties.

Is my child too young for therapy?

Children are never too young and early intervention can be paramount in supporting your child’s mental wellbeing. Children often express their thoughts and emotions through play. This is something that is used within mind school sessions to promote a trusting relationship with them, it allows them to communicate at their own pace in a safe environment, and provides help and intervention specific to your child’s needs.

Do the parents have to be present during the sessions?

I consider parents and caregivers to be an important resource for a child and parents can provide information, guidance, and positive discipline for their child. But you are not required to stay present during the therapy sessions. But after the sessions it is important that I guide and support Parents and care givers so that we all have the child’s best interests at heart.

Styles of therapies used

What Is IEMT?

IEMT Is a model built around addressing and resolving The 5 Patterns of Chronicity

  • Has applications in resolving PTSD
  • Minimal discomfort in the process as it does not involve traumatic imagery
  • Creates kinaesthetic change by addressing imprints of emotion
  • Creates change in self concept by addressing imprints of identity
  • Uses eye movement as the dominant mechanism for change
What is old pain to go?

OldPain2Go® is available ONLY after your doctor has diagnosed the problem and one of the following applies:

1. There is nothing more can be done but manage the pain.

2. Your Doctor cannot find the reason after exhausting all the test processes and offers pain management.

3. You have a degenerative condition where it is likely the pain will not go away.

As an OldPain2Go®  practitioner  I will  bargain with the part of the brain that deals with pain and ask if it will release you from it. Because of that it is a totally safe process – if you still need to have the pain message it will remain.

Because it deals with Old Pain Messages it can remove them permanently. New Pain (acute) can be felt at any time it is required and the old pain is not their masking any appearance of new pain. Therefore, this even works on pain removal from degenerative disorders.

What is NLP therapy?

NLP is a profoundly effective “How to” technology for personal change and development, and interpersonal effectiveness. NLP is based on the study of the most influential components involved in shaping our experiences:

Neuro – the unique way we translate the information we receive through our senses about the external world and what is happening around us, and how this translation affects the way we think, our physiology, how we feel and how we behave.

Linguistic – how we express our experience to ourselves and to others through the language we use and how the language we use affects our experience, behaviour and feelings.

Programming – how habitual, often unconscious, patterns of thoughts and feelings developed through the course of our lives affect our current behaviour – and how these patterns can be changed.

How are metaphors used in therapy?

The use of metaphors in the psychotherapeutic context can be powerful. Metaphors can be used as an indirect intervention to communicate certain issues that might be received with rejection, or, on the other hand, may be too abstract to be remembered by the patient.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an awareness of your thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. It brings you into the present moment and allows you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Mindfulness involves observing your experiences in a nonjudgmental manner. The practice of mindfulness can help us learn how to respond rather than react to our thoughts and emotions.

How can Mindfulness help anxiety?

In mindfulness meditation, you practice being aware of your thoughts and feelings without judging them. This can help you manage stress and anxiety better.

  • Mindfulness meditation helps you to be more aware of the present moment–so instead of worrying about the future or ruminating over past events, you’re able to focus on what’s happening right now.
  • By becoming more mindful, you’ll also be able to notice when your mind wanders away from what’s happening in front of you (for example, if it starts thinking about something else), which is an important skill for learning how not get stressed out so easily!
  • When we’re stressed out or anxious about something in our lives (like work), it can be easy for us to forget how fortunate we really are; but mindfulness meditation helps us become more compassionate towards ourselves while also helping us develop empathy towards others who might be going through similar challenges as well
Do you use all the therapies?

After receiving a feedback form, I select the therapies I feel would best suit the individual’s needs.

How Many sessions are needed?

Between 1-3 sessions is often advised but it depends upon what issues we are working on.
